Lambeth Family House

Our imaginative and creative clients appointed atelierdb to demolish an existing house in the Streatham Park Garrads Road Conservation area. Their brief was to creative a striking modern family home.

We took reference from the many varied properties within the Conservation Area and created a contemporary building arranged over 4 floors, having a basement gym/family room, sprawling living and study accommodation at ground floor with bedrooms at first and loft levels.

The roof form uses hidden gutters to allow the rosemary clay tiles to wrap the facades similar to other properties in close proximity helping to knit the modern with old.

No.57 next door is a Locally Listed Building. The modern design approach helps to respect the historical detailing and materials of this period gatehouse – preventing pastiche architecture and helping to define new styles within the Conservation Area in balance with old.
